We are an ethic driven small local business with hives in two beautiful, secluded locations in the serene New Zealand countryside. Our primary site is situated on nutrient dense soil on the edge of an extinct volcano, right next to the coast. Where ocean spray falls softly on the plants and ground giving our coastal honeys a salted caramel like flavor.

What’s the buZz ABOUT?

KANUKA

Kānuka is different to mānuka, it grows taller (up to 15 meters), has smaller flowers and softer foliage.

There are 10 species of kānuka, all endemic to Aotearoa, with their own unique characteristics and properties.

It has the ability to adapt to its surroundings from geothermal valleys to clay farmlands to limestone cliffs.

WE LAB TEST ALL HONEY BEFORE PACKAGING TO ENSURE ITS QUALITY AND IDENTIFY KĀNUKA ATTRIBUTES.

Kānuka has anti-aging, anti inflammatory and wound healing properties due to high amounts of AGP's (active ingredients) - Gannabathula, 2011.

Bee Keeper

Director and beekeeper Bevan has been entrenched in the world of bees since 2006. He has studied and observed bees to gain insights into their characteristics, habits and needs. His passion for bees has grown the hobby into a commercial business with multiple hives in two outstanding locations.

STORY / PHILOSOPHY

We’re passionate about protecting our awesome earth and the cool critters in it. A percentage of our profits goes back into protecting vulnerable species - critical for a healthy planet and abundance of food sources like honey!
