We do not heat honey above hive temperature to retain maximum nutritional value.

Kanuka Honey

$16 inc gst

We produce two kānuka variants depending on the season and weather: a Coastal Kānuka (Kunzea amathicola), from our serene ocean view site resting on the edge of an extinct volcano and a Forest Kānuka (Kunzea robusta) from beehives in tranquil native forests of Aotearoa. Both have a sweet mild herbal taste and thick gel-like texture, indicative of kānuka honey. The Coastal Kānuka is a beautiful bright yellow with a salted caramel type taste representative of the coast. Forest Kānuka is a darker honey, light to medium brown with a stronger malted herbal flavor. Enjoy by the spoon full or as a replacement for sugar in your tea and coffee.

Kanuka Blend Honey

Our Kānuka Forest Blend is an exquisite mix of New Zealand tea tree/forest kānuka (Kunzea Robusta) and the New Zealand honeysuckle (rewarewa or Knightia Excelsa), this is followed by floral notes of other native flowers. Gathered by Raglan Apiaries beehives, nestled amongst the native forests of Waikato, the Kānuka Forest Blend is a true representation of New Zealand bush honey lead by the herbal taste of the New Zealand tea tree. A beautiful malt flavored tone with an aromatic herbal after taste, the Kānuka Forest Blend will make an ideal companion with raw lemon and ginger, excellent for a cold winters night drink.

Coastal Honey

RRP $12 inc gst

No honey season is the same, each year the honey will display different qualities and taste due to the local flora of the area and how it reacts to the weather and climate. Raglan Apiaries Coastal Honey is sourced from our coastal site that sits on an extinct volcano on the edge of the west coast of the North Island. It is a combination of native flora like rewarewa, rātā, kāmahi and also kānuka and mānuka. These plants have the ability to stem their roots deep in the soil, absorbing rich nutrients that are carried into the nectar of the flower. This gives the honey a highly unusual but beautiful taste influenced by coastal and earthly elements.

THE GOOD STUFF

OUR HONEY IS True to the Label

Seal.png

WE LAB TEST ALL HONEY BEFORE PACKAGING TO ENSURE ITS QUALITY AND IDENTIFY KĀNUKA ATTRIBUTES.

On the jar we put on the measured ingredient ( Polyphenol) of 3-pla. Each batch is measured and recorded from the lab. Puttting this measurement on the jar helps identify the honey being Kanuka, as Kanuka (and Manuka) are the only honey in NZ that produce mid-high amounts of 3-pla.
